Eric, I have been digesting what little facts we have and finally decided to present you with some family lines to peruse and (who knows?) perhaps draw some further conclusions. Before I continue, one message I have seen re: Cordelia Kendall attributed her parents and Matilda Bickford and ADELBURT A. Kendall. Is there some question as to her father's name? There are three families which have possible results worthy of consideration. Possibility #1 (This one is little known and has taken many years of careful research to finally put together) William Kendall b.Oct. 13,1755 Lancaster,MA, s. of Samuel/Phoebe (Brintnal), d.1798 Salisbury, Addison,VT. m.June 21,1772 Mary Brooks b.Sept. 15,1754 Bolton,MA, ddd.1797 Sheldon,VT, dtr. of Isaac/Mary (Bathrick) Their children: Born at Enosburg,Franklin,VT: 1. Hannah Kendall b.c.1773,m.Ira Harvey 2. Isaac b.Apr. 1,1775, d.c.1870 Clayton,Jefferson,NY, m.c.1799(probably Que.,Can.) Susanna Goodale, 3. William b.c.Apr. 1,1775 d.c.1852? m.1st c.1792 Amelia Beach b.July 1,1775 E.Hartland,Hartford,CT, dtr. of Cephas/Candace(Austin), m.2nd Apr. 19,1818 Farnham,Que.,Can.,Aurelia White 4.Seth b.Oct. 13,1779 d.Jan. 25,1846 Sheldon,VT.m.Jan. 2,1806 Berkshire,VT. Lucy Chaffee. 5. George Washington 2nd b.1781, m.Charlotte Unknown, 6. Sally b.c.1783, 7. Nathan b.July 13,1787 d.1796, 8.Phebe b.c.1789 d.1790, 9. Lucy b.1791, 10. Samuel b.Sept. 5,1794 d.Lyme,Jefferson,NY, m.Oct. 1,1816, Harriet Stebbins and 11. Caleb E. b.c.1797,d.Rushford,Winnebago,Wisconsin, m.June 9,1842 Abiah Emily Utter of Richmond,Wisconsin. Because Mary Brooks father was named Isaac and brother was named Seth, weight seems to me to fall in this direction. William b.Apr. 1,1775(as above)had two children with his 1st wife Amelia: 1. Candace b.c.1793 Ludlow,MA, d.June 8,1800 Paris,Oneida,NY 2.Chloe b.c.1795 Paris,NY d.bef.1800 Here is a confusing point. Amelia didn't die until 1818 in Gennessee,Livingston,NY.There is one source which shows her having two more children: William Kendall b.c.1795-97 who m.Dorothy Unknown and a Luther Kendall b.c.1804, m.Anna D. Ballard. These two boys wound up in Leon,Cattaraugus,NY.There is also a record of Amelia Beach having married someone named Elijah Draper in 1796 and having children by that marriage. William Kendall b.Apr. 1,1775 m. Apr. 19,1818 in Farnham,Que.,Can., Aurelia White b.c.1793 VT, d.1879 Rubicon,Neosho,Dodge,Wisconsin. Children: Born Farnham,Quebec: 1.William b.July 1,1824 d.Aug. 22,1901 Neosho,Dodge,Wis., m.Sept. 24,1845 Eliza Blood, m.2nd c.1852 Louise D.Slayton, m.3rd June 1,1870 at Neosho,Wis. Mary Jane Goodwin. 2. Miron b.c.1826, 3.Unknown b.c.1828, 4. Fernando b.1831, 5. Lucinda Aurelia b.March 8,1835 d.May 6,1884 Neosho,Wis., m.May 4,1851 Sugar Creek,Wis. George E.Hicks Possibility #2 William Ebenezer Kendall b.Oct. 9,1751 Cambridge,MA, d.Nov. 15,1819 Pepperell,MA, m.Dec. 29,1773 Molly Collins b.Apr. 13,1747, d.Feb. 4,1829 Pepperell. Their children: Born Dunstable,MA 1. William b.May 24,1775 d. after 1850 in Braintree,MA. m.c.1795 Mary Bowdwright. Born New Ipswitch,Hillsborough,N H: 2. Marcy b.July 22,1777 m.Oct. 23,1797 John Dunnell, 3.Polly b.July 22,1777, m.March 2,1803 Amos Fletcher. Born Chelsea,MA 4. Rebecca b.July 1,1778m.Feb. 26,1797 William Cook. Born Ashburnham,MA: 5. Nancy b.Nov. 27,1781, m.Sept. 22,1808 Robert Slade.6. Moses Collins b.Sept. 7,1784 m.Apr. 20,1809 Joan Harding, 7. Lydia b.Sept. 16,1789, m.March 18,1823 William Floyd, 8. Phillip b.Aug. 24,1799, m.May 27,1824 Polly Thompson. Possibilities #3 In a line I have previously spoken of as that of Samuel Kendall,3rd.son of Francis of Woburn Gen.#1 Francis, Gen.#2 Samuel, Gen.#3 Isaac b.Sept. 13,1686, Gen.#4 William b.Apr. 1,1719, Gen.#5 William b.Oct. 27,1741, (Here we converge with two choices) Gen.#6 Jerreb b.May 39,1782, Gen.#7 William Wallace b.Aug. 18,1824 OR Gen.#6 David b.c.1771, Gen.#7 William David b.March 8,1795 at Bradford,Orange,VT. There are two final thoughts one must be mindful of: A. The census records including a William Kendall and a Matilda give the year born as 1823-25.This would be the age of the William we are looking for. Thought B is that of the different William Kendalls possibly being parent of this William b.c.1823, all family lines seem ,with one exception, to jump a generation from being b.1775. The normal average age to marry and raise a family would be about 26 yrs. of age. The next generation we seem to find is that of children starting at b.c.1823-4. This would make a man starting his first family at age 49, possible but not usual. I realize this is a tremendous amount to look over. However, for the benefit of many others like yourself who seem to be laboring over the same issues, perhaps this could help. Sincerely, L.K.Sawyer Notify Administrator about this message?
