Hi Geoff,
My name is Richard Simpson and I am a great great grandson of Emanuel Kemp.My father's grandmother was Jane Kemp, daughter of Emanuel and Rosilla. My father, Harold Wade Simpson (he is 92 years old), remembers his grandmother Jane Kemp.He was five when she died.
For years I have hoped to connect with an English descendant of Emanuel and Rosilla Kemp.Jane left Ashton-under-Lyne in 1891 with her son Harold Pollitt Simpson and emigrated to the state of Illinois. There she settled in Kempton, a rural village near the city of Kankakee.Kempton was the home of her Uncle Wright Kemp (the village was named for him).Wright was the brother of Emanuel. From Kempton she went to Kankakee, Illinois, where she married Edmund Love and with him moved to Russell, Kansas. That is where her son Harold Pollitt Simpson grew up, married and where my father Harold Wade Simpson was born in 1919.
I have many questions I would like to ask you about the Kemps and any family stories you may know. The last contact with Kemp family our family had was back around 1920, with Nellie Charlesworth (daughter of Alice Ann Kemp). My father knew nothing of the descendants of Charles, Joshua, or Elizabeth Ann (daughter of Rosilla from a previous marriage to William Clough).
I know very little of Emanuel and have discovered more about Rosilla (sometimes spelled Rosella) Brammah Kemp and will be happy to share what I know.We can email using this forum if you like (sometimes keeping this public helps others folks looking for our family members) or if you prefer email me at [email protected]
I'm glad you found my old posting and posted something.I look forward to sharing family history.
Cheers, Richard
