Hello L. Krusling,I tried to reply to your post back in Nov. '08, but I don't know if it came through. If you are related to the same Frank Kemp, hello cousin.I have similarinformation to yours, but not exactly.Unless my aunt and other ancestors got things mixed up, Frank (or John Francis) was not born in Germany (or Alsace), but was born in Cincinnati, lived there for awhile, moved east to Milford, Ohio area, built a house that was torn down several years ago to let Interstate I-275 split the property in two parts. His father, John Joseph Kempf, was the German immigrant.I've heard hints he may also have been called Frank or Francis sometimes. His daughter Elenora Catherine (or "Clara") was the 5th child of John Joseph. My ancestor was the oldest son John Francis--my g-grandfather.My aunt's records had her marrying a "Maczum", though I haven't yet found a date.
I have only partial records of those generations. Some birthdates, places, marriages, deaths, etc. I have, but not all of them.I'm just getting used to doing research on line.I hope to get into the big Cincinnati library sometime soon with my notes, lots of blank paper, and learn how to use their collection.I belong to our Clermont County Gen. Association, and am slowly learning how to--everything.I hope my cousin has kept his mother's research materials and will let me look at it one of these days.
Please get back to me and maybe we can exchange more information.I have located a few grave sites, and recently got a digital camera that I plan to use to photograph grave sites, home sites, etc. as I can find them.
One other item I didn't mention, the clan back in those days were Catholic, and I've had trouble finding their graves in Catholic cemetaries.I know where John Joseph is buried, within 25 feet--no individual marker found so far.I think they were too poor to afford good markers for us to find.I know he's buried in his in-laws plot.
I've rambled long enough for now.Jack Kemp
on, John Francis.
