Our Kemp ancestors go back to Solomon Kemp born in 1811 in South Carolina.He died 04-18-1891 in Forsyth Co.,Ga.,buried at his family cemetery near Corinth Church but during the Buford Dam Project three graves from the Kemp family cemetery were removed,his and Elizabeth and his son John. He and his family lived on Baldridge Creek. He was married 1st:Elizabeth Kyle in Gwinnett Co.,GA.in 1832.The had 10 children:1.Melissa b.1832. 2.Thomas Manning Kemp,my g.grandfather,b.1833. 3:Carolina, 4:Adaline, 5:Augustus,6:John M. 7:Wesley,8:Columbus Taylor 9:Cicero B.b.1850, 10:Joseph G.b.1854. Elizabeth Kyle Kemp died and Solomon married Adaline McBrayer McCormick and they had Julius Kemp and Lee Kemp. Solomon Kemp was one of the pioneer settlers in the Cherokee purchase. Moses Kemp could have been his brother,I don't know who his siblings were.
