Samuel KEMP, b.ca. 1779 to 1821, Salem, Essex Co. MA
Samuel KEMP was born say 1779, supposedly in Salem. He married Lucy SLUMAN, 27 December 1808, in Salem. She was born say 1781, also supposedly in Salem.Samuel died 11 June 1821, in Salem.Lucy died 12 January 1826, also in Salem.Issue (surname KEMP), all born Salem:
i. Lucy Ann, born say 1812, died 02 November 1819 in Salem.
ii. Mary Ann, born say 1812, died 31 July 1818 in Salem.
iii. Abby, born 21 October 1815.She filed her intention to marry Zebulon DAVISON, 17 June 1838 in Gloucester, Essex Co. MA, they were married shortly thereafter. She died 26 September 1893 in Chelsea, Suffolk Co. MA.
iv. Samuel, born 15 December 1816.He married Anna (Annie) Maria BALDWIN, say 1843, probably in Salem and died 06 November 1872 in Boston, Suffolk Co. MA, with issue.
v. daughter, born say 1820, died 20 February 1827 in Salem.
Samuel is enumerated as a head of household, living in Salem, in the 1820 Censusas follows:
Census Enumeration - Identity - Birth range
Samuel KEMP - Samuel KEMP - Born between 1775-1794
female - Lucy (SLUMAN) KEMP - Born between 1775-1794
male - UNKNOWN - Born between 1804-1810
female - Abby KEMP - Born between 1810-1820
male - Samuel KEMP Jr. - Born between 1810-1820
The additional male, born between 1804-1820, is unknown - possibility another son.It would be easy to presume it to be John (see my other post), but this identification is questionable, as John would have been too old to be a child of the marriage and older then this enumeration (although this alone is hardly determinative). The enumeration otherwise corresponds with the family as known.
If Samuel fits into the Groton KEMPs, I have yet to find the connection.Any help on Samuel would be appreciated.
