James S. Kemp, Jr., was born 5 Jan 1867. James S. Kemp, Sr., was born 1841, West Thurrock, Suffolk County, England, & was 14 years old when his parents located to Beamsville, Ontario, where he was raised. He spent many years as a miller at Port Dalhousie, Ontario. At Lewiston, NY, James, Sr., married Anna Florence Barrett, who was born at St. Catherine's, Ontario, 1 Jan 1845; died at Missoula, MT, 28 Sep 1919. In 1885, due to ill health, James, Sr., came to Montana and homesteaded four miles from Missoula, MT. Later became a prominent citizen of Missoula and died there, Sep 1909. Six children: Robert; James S., Jr.; Armenia Winifred (Mrs. George F. Likes); May Florence; Thomas E.; F.C., Challis, ID.
James S. Kemp, Jr., obtained his early education in Ontario & came with his parents to Missoula at age 18. 9 Dec 1885, he went to work for the Northern Pacific Railway and worked for them continuously since then. In 1903, he transferred to Helena, MT; 1905 to Butte, MT. James, Jr., never married.
