Hi Julie,
Contact me off-line regarding your query. I can give you the address of a lady who has said that: your Edward D. Kemp (b. ca. 1792-1799) & who was living in Illinois in 1850 was the son of John T. Kemp, b. 12 Apr. 1770- died 21 Oct. 1822 & Massy Kemp, born before 1774 - died about 1828-9. Both are buried in the McCullough Cemetery, PA.
John T. Kemp was the son of John S. Kemp; Massy Kemp was the d/o Edward D. Kemp Sr. Apparently your Edward D. Kemp (II) was mentioned in his grandfather's estate papers (Edward D. Kemp Sr.) of 1855 as being in Illinois. Edward D. Kemp II bought the property of his deceased brother, Henry P. Kemp at a sherriff's sale in 1837. He was still listed as a resident of Somerset Co., PA at that time. He had been exector for his father's estate (John T. Kemp) but after his mother's (Massy) death ca. 1829, other siblings petitioned the court to change the exector & Peter Bowlin was named. Edward even helped pay for the casket of Edward D. Kemp Sr's wife, Rachel.
