Need assistance w/ Keltner name - Irish/Scottish or German??

Hi,
I am trying to help my husband research his surname Keltner since he wants to get his family crest/coat of arms. However during our research we are finding 2 different origins of the Keltner name - Irish/Scotland and German. Unfortunately my husbands father died at a very young age and my husband never got to know him and his mother doesn't seem to have too much family background info. The only info we have found so far is this:

Father: David Wayne Keltner - born 1957, died July 13, 1985. Appears to have lived in MO and in KS at some times in his life.

Grandfather: Paul Keltner (wifes name unknown right now) At one point lived in Oak Grove, MO.

Great Grandmother: Juliet Keltner (husbands name unknown right now) At some point lived in Raytown, MO.

With this information is there any way we may be able to back track and find out whether my husbands name is of German or Irish/Scottish origin? If not what other information do we need to somehow research and find to do so and how can we do this??

Sorry - I am very new at this and this is quite important to my husband since he never got to know his father so I'm trying my best to research as much as I can for him. Thank you so much for any suggestions/advice etc!!
