Hi There: My gt gt grandmother was Maria Kelsall from Ditton, Widnes (born 1846). Ref Mary Ann Kelsall: she was the dau of Nehemiah Kelsall (son of Neh. K. and Ellen Hindley) and Ann Kilshaw (both families were from the Gt Sankey / Burtonwood area of S Lancs). Neh. & Ann's children were Mary Ann (1840), Thomas (1842), John (1844), Joseph (1845), Sarah Ellen (1849), Margaret Jane (1851), Henry (1853), Elizabeth (1854). Mary Ann married John Blackburn from Culcheth (east of Warrington). They farmed in Bold, Nr Widnes (1871 census) but unfortunatey Mary Ann died quite young (between 1874 and 1881). They had 5 children (Ann, Mary, John, Sarah & Joseph) - (3 of whom were living with their 2 Uncles, James and Thomas Blackburn, who farmed at Yew Tree Fm, Cinder Lane, Culcheth (1881 census). By 1881, John and his dau Ann & son Joseph had moved into Widnes (103 Travis St) where John had become a hay and straw merchant. I'm still working on how / if my Kelsall ancestors are related to these above.
