Hello Anne, my name is dave peshler. I am doing a model lesson presentation on the slave ship zong and I am wondering if you would be able to help me. My lesson is a group investigation project where the class will be divided up into three different groups (insurance company, crew members, and abolitionists) and discuss the zong ship in terms of socio-economics. In order for the groups to properly participate, I need information about the time period, abolition movements, insurance policies of the time, and racial ideologies. Also, information about the class system and where the crew, owners, insurance company come from and how that has affected their attitudes towards the slave trade. I have in my possession, three books (Spectators of the Atlantic, and two other books which deal with the horrific incident and parts of the trial that took place in 1783). I have a lot of superficial information and I need to add more depth to my lesson. If you would be able to let me know where to find more information or if you can share what you know, that would be great. The sooner the better. Thanks so much and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Dave Peshler
