See if the following helps at all: FOURTH GENERATION Revised April 18, 1988 JOHN PENDLETON O'KELLEY - 4.001 John Pendleton O'Kelley was born on 14 November 1830 and was married to Adaline Judson Ford on 31 August, 1857. He was the twin brother of James Pardue O'Kelley. John P. died 25 January 1897. He is listed in the U.S. Census reports through 1880. His wife, Adaline Judson, was born April 5, 1837 and died on May 6, 1917, and is listed as living in the home of their son, John A. O'Kelley in both the 1900 and 1910 Census Reports. She was listed as being 73 years of age in the 1910 Census. Her name was listed as "Josie" in the 1880 Census, apparently a nickname. Both John P. and his wife Adaline are buried in Hawkins Cemetery in Walton County, Georgia. At the time of her death, in 1917, she was living with another of her sons, David Hugh O'Kelley. She apparently moved in with he and his family shortly after the 1910 census. A real estate transaction, recorded in Hall County, when John P. O'Kelley was living in Walton County, is dated 1889. The property involved was known as "the Nancy O'Kelley place at the time of her death". Clearly this is Nancy (Chastain) O'Kelley, wife of John P.'s father, William. She died 8 February 1889, about 4 months before this transaction. The sale is for a 1/12 interest in the property - suggesting that there were only 12 of the original 16 children living at the time and that Judson Shepherd was the husband of one of William and Nancy's daughters. John P. is listed in the 1860 census as living in the Northern District of Monroe (Walton County) and in Social Circle (Walton County) in the 1880 census. Adjacent to the graves of John P. and Adaline J. O'Kelley is a grave which appeared to be a child's grave. It is marked with a fieldstone marker. Someone (John P.?) has chiseled an inscription into the headstone, but age has taken its toll, and reading it now is difficult at best. My interpretation is as follows: "M.J. Lemmon DAUGHTER OF J.P. AND A.J. O'KELLEY WAS BORN FEB 14 1866 DIED AUG 22 18??" It is my belief this is the grave of John P. and Adaline's daughter Minnie. Children: a.Greene O'Kelley, (M) b. June 1858. Married Emma V. ?? . See 5.001. b.Francis O'Kelley, (F), b. 1859. c.Emma O'Kelley, (F), b. 1859. Married Billy Streeter. Billy died circa 1905. Children: 1. Ruby Idell Streeter 2. Buried in Hawkins Cemetery, Walton County, Georgia. f.John A. O'Kelley, (M), b. March 1870. Married Ola (Viola) McHugh in 1894. See 5.002. g.DAVID HUGH O'KELLEY, (M), b. 18 October, 1873, d. 24 June 1957. Married (1) Eunice Rosie McHugh, (b. 9/10/1879, d. 5/25/1913 on 12/26/97. (2) Fanney Brown. (3) Lelia Towns. See 5.003. Note:Francis is listed in the 1860 census as being 9 months of age. Emma is listed in the 1880 census as being 21 years of age. This could be the same person, with Emma being a nickname for Francis. Lou, and Sallie have been suggested as other children of John P., but they do not show up in the census reports. Notify Administrator about this message?
