Kellogg Family Genealogy Forum

Hi Gail: I am going to respond to your post in genforum and also try your e-mail address that was listed there.
My great grandfather Oren Clark Kellogg is said to have been born in St. Albins Nov. 5, 1843. The family bible shows his parents were Warren and Clara P. Kellogg. No one in the family have been able to find anything on Warren and Clara. The story that was handed down from great grandpa is a bit sketchy. All we know is that Warren died when Oren was a baby. Clara apparently remarried a man who was a drunk and did not treat Warren very well. It is said that Clara sent Oren to live with an uncle, but nobody knows if the uncle was from Warren's or Clara's family or where. Oren married Huldah Ann Hickman on July 22, 1873 in Alligan, Michigan. Family story tells that Oren and Huldah met on a wagon train on the way to Michigan. I don't know if Oren started from Ohio or picked the wagon train somewhere along the way. My grandfather wrote to me that his father, Oren, told him the story how the ladies all slept in the wagons and the men slept under the wagon at night.
I have not been able to find Oren in the census until 1880 Vermontville, Eaton Co., Michigan with Huldah and two of their girls, who were both born in Mich. I found Huldah in the 1860 & 1870 Van Wert, Oho census still living with her parents.
