Bill, I hate to jump into this Kellison pot but I have been working for years on the Callison family of Virginia and am really concerned that I have missed something connecting these two families. In the pre Bath Co., Va era for Daniel Callison/Kellison, he was known as Callison. Then in 1820 it seemed to switch to Kellison. My line was known as Callison in Augusta, Greenbrier and Bath Co., Va but when migrating to Ohio and Kentucky were also known as Kellison/Collison. If you look at an 1840 census for Ohio, some of those Kellisons are Callisons. Now back to Pike Co Kellisons, -- the area of concern are Alexander and Daniel in the 1880 census who say their parents were born in Va/WV. Quite a few Callisons in that time period in VA/WV along with only a few Kellisons.Additionally, one marriage for a Downing is to a Kellison and two marriages are for Collisons in Pike Co., Ohio. Additionally, I have a John Callison married to Elizabeth Cutlip in Virginia 1791 and her parents to Ross/Pike Co., Ohio. COULD THESE KELLISONS in OHIO be children of John and Elizabeth CALLISON.
Thomas Downing/Elizabeth Kellison 1819
Joseph Downing/Margaret Collison 1823
Elizabeth Downing/Samuel Collison 1831
Samuel born 1801 Virginia. It is probably that John Callison served in the War of 1812 for Ohio so any children born after that date would be in Ohio. Just something to cogitate on. This really bugs me. Take care. Marilyn Hansen
