I am a descendant of Abner Kelley, born July 4, 1782 in NC/TN before statehood. Abner had three of his children born in TN from 1806 to 1811, Not sure where children were born in 1813 and 1815 but he was in Mississippi by the time he had the last children from 1817-1824. He settled in Attala County, MS. In the 1850's he rode horseback to the Choctaw Nation(now OK), age 69-73, while there, he wrote a letter to S W Kelley in TN. To date, I have found a Samuel W Kelley from Greene County, TN born in 1792. If Samuel is the son of John Kelley, Sr, I cannot place where Abner fits in. Although none of the Abner Kelley descendants have located a father for Abner, I do not believe that John Sr. is, due to the fact that he had a daughter born in 1782, same year that Abner was born. Abner's first child is named John, 2nd son Samuel, 3rd son James and 4th son Abner Greene Kelley. Abners wife was Catherin, last name unknown. If anyone can place this S W Kelley, please let me know. I feel he has to be kin and Abners son's all follow the name line as if they would be John Kelley's grandchildren, but I feel there is more to it. Would love any help!
