I believe the following Kellett men born in Tennessee are children of James listed in 1830 census Lawrence County,AK. His age there is 40-50. His wife's age 40-50.James is the only one in one of the older Kelletts to be in Tennessee during the years of the following births:
Bryantb.1807,William b. 1809,Johnb.1811,Joshua b. 1819,Josiah b. 1823,Jamesb.in Arkansas 1828, Crawford b.in Arkansas 1830.
The wife of James Elizabeth Jane Crawford b.in South Carolina 1790. James had come to Arkansas when the older William died in 1825.The Will date was February 25,1825.
Joseph listed in the 1830 census as age 40-50 and this James age 40-50 were securities when William died.George S. Hudspeth Adm'r.We do not know the exact date of this William's birth.
William Kellett,Lawrence County,AR in 1822 had to go to court. A woman by the name of Betsy Hardin took him to court
claiming William was saying that Betsy had a mulatto child
in Bellview and she had to leave her county. It was signed by William and HIS SON Joseph Kellett. This William was from Lawrence County, AR.
Finally we know that the father of the older Joseph and the older James is William Kellett.
Elizabeth Jane has been a mystery to me for years. She is in the 1850 census as Jane, age 60 from South Carolina and the mother of James and Crawford. Her father was John Crawford and her mother Mary.
The older Joseph died in 1835 and the older James in 1836 according to the tax lists. After those dates it showed the heirs for each of them.
I hope someone can find our older William in South Carolina.
Everyone married so young then. He might have been born about 1774. He could be the son of the oldest John or the oldest William in SC.They both served in the Revolutionary War so they had to be at least 14 or 15 I think to do that. Of course the war lasted several years. They may have been born earlier than I have seen.
Has anyone seen the will of William who died in 1795 in Laurens with the list of his children?
Anymore known of John the brother who was the son of Joseph and Jennett?
I have seen a list of John's children but wonder how accurate it is.
I have worked on this with a new dedication recently. Would appreciate any feedback.
