The info showing descent from Richard Kellam of Accomack Co to John Gilbert to Daniel, etc., Kellams is incorrect. There is no connection, published works to the contrary notwithstanding. The earliest known ancestor to James was Gilbert (not John Gilbert). He was b ca 1730-35, prob in Ire or Eng. He did NOT serve in RevWar. Spent time in PA, where Gilbert Jr was b ca 1766 and George ca 1768-9. Family to Rockbridge Co, VA ca 1773. In Washington Co, late 1780s then to Knox Co, KY. Gilbert d ca 1812 and most sons moved up to Breckinridge Co, KY and into Orange and other IN counties. Care must be taken on pedigree of James. Both Gilbert Sr and Daniel prob had sons James b ca 1780 And NO CONNECTION TO EASTERN VA CLAN! .
