The only ones that called me James were the nuns and my mother when she was really angry.Jim is fine.
When my great grandfather emigrated to the US he settled in West Newbury, MA.He lived next door to his cousins (Callaghans and McAuliffes). That home and property stayed in my family until about 7 or 8 years ago, when my father sold it to a descendant of the cousins next door. When we were children, that was our summer home and all the old letters and documents were stored in trunks and boxes in the shed.
I am happy to share any info I have, especially if it will result in a true family connection and possible historical link.I will e-mail you the casual reference I have to Mary, that I believe to be a sister.Send me your e-mail address [email protected], as I would rather communicate directly as opposed to posting info in a forum.
I have been very close to Dromtarriffe, in Kanturk, but my time was limited and it was getting dark so I abandonded my quest until the next trip.
Did Mary emigrate from Ireland? If so, where to?Where are you located?
There were many, many Kelehers in the area, so this may not be a good connection. But it's worth checking out.
