Robert, Edward, Henry, thomas & Jane were the Children of Robert &Mary (McAllister) Kells. Lived in Ballyconnell County Cavan,Ireland Henry was my ancestor and came to New Zealand with British 65th regiment in 1853. Henry's brother Thomas and went to Australia as did his uncle Henry. Some of his family went to Canada and to America.
I was given the Kells family History of all the Kells going back to the 6th Century when the Book of Kells was written by Colum Cille and the monks of the monastery of Kells.
Colum Cille or Colum Kells was born in the north west of Ireland about 521AD There is a town of Kells in Ireland and in Scotland, the Scotish town of Kells is the remains of Royal hunting grounds.
There are also french Kells escaping to England then went to Scotland with other Hugenots during the reign of Louis X1V in about 1575. If any one wants anymore information you may email me and I will do my best to help.
