Randy,
I know you haven't posted on here recently but I've some info on Philip Kelch, Ida Mae's father and on John B. Kelch. I'm trying to find out if John had a sister, Mary L. Kelch bc 1838?
Don't know if you have gotten their Civil War Records but, the LDS site there was a page on him that said he'd deserted the 157th NY Volunteers verified by Bill Gillespie from "NY:Report of the Adjutant-General". I found that both he and Lucuis were in the 157th NY Co I and Philip was in Troy Mi. Enlisted in the 22nd Michigan Infantry Co. E.
The following courtesy of Bill Gillespie reply on the Civil War Forum message board# 18853:
I checked www.civilwardata.com, and their records of Philip come from "Records of Service of Michigan Volunteers 1861-65"
Philip Kelch, residence Troy, MI , age 28, enlisted at Troy on 8-9-62 as a private. On 8-22-62 he was mustered into MI 22nd Infantry, Company E.He was killed on 9-20-63 at Chicamauga, GA.
Looks like the unit got real cutup that day. Official records show: killed, 51, wounded 150, prisoner of war 214, missing 3.

I've recently returned from visiting the Lambs Cemetery, Wales Twp., St.Clair Co. where I found the stone of Catherine Dingman wife of Philip Kelch. Stone reads:
Catherine
beloved wife of
Philip Kelch
Born
Apr 4, 1839
Died
Aug. 26, 1878
Aged
39Yrs. 5Mos.
22 Dys
This is off a month or the date is wrong. Calculates to 39yrs 4Mos 22 dys.I have a couple photos of it and of the nearby "Family Plot" which is a curbed lot. I haven't developed that yet.
