On December 2nd in 1951, the USNS General Sturgis, a US Army Transportation Service ship, departed Bremerhaven Germany, On board were Alma Kruze, age 29 (born 1922) and a daughter, Zigrida-Biruta Kruze, age 4 (born 1947). Both are listed as Latvian. They gave their address as 248 East 34th Street in New York City. There are over a dozen Edward Keith's, who joined the US Army during WW2. Without an age, middle name or initial, birth location or enlistment location, this makes the task difficult. If you could supply this information, it seems likely that Edward Keith might be found. There is, however a possibility that Edward is no longer living, as he would be in his late 80s by now. There are dozens of Edward Keith's listed in the Social Security Death Index. If we look into the military cemeteries, we find dozens of Edward Keith's, who were veterans of WW2, buried in national cemeteries. These Keith's are listed by branches of the military and not duty locations. There are some good candidates here, though ... but, without a birth location or year, it is still difficult to determine. Same is true for Alma and her daughter, Zigrida. Other than the Military Transport ship record, there is no other information on their location here in the US. Likely, both married and the Kruze name was lost? One thought, if Alma and daughter were traveling on a US Military Transport ship in 1951, this suggests that they were in some way connected with either the military or possibly listed as dependents of military personnel? Any information about Edward Keith you may be able to supply will help in the search. John Notify Administrator about this message?
