Larry, i see now that you were referring (in your post above) to a second listing for the George T. Keith (born circa 1829); i mis-read that at first.

All these Georges ... why couldn't mine have been named Heathcliff or Englebert?

Anyway ... i came across someone else's research (as yet unvalidated) for this George Thomas Keith, son of George Fleming Keith:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~warejamesbakercalder/keith0001.htm#id3593 (Libby Baker@aol.com)

...which says that George Thomas Keith's brother, James M. Keith -- as of the 1870 Pendleton County (KY) census -- was shown "living in household with brother Thomas and parents."

There is no "Thomas" among the siblings other than George Thomas Keith.

If that indeed proves to be the case (and it may be a while before i can find my way to an 1870 census), then it's less likely that "my" George T will turn out to be this George Thomas. By 1870, "my" George T had started his own family, and his daughter Martha Agnes "Mattie" Keith was about 2 years old. Maybe they ALL lived together, but this researcher made no mention of George Thomas having a wife (and at least one child) as of that census.

Meanwhile, i found a George T. Keith who served in the Confederate Army with Morgan's CSA (General John Hunt Morgan, of Kentucky's "Morgan's Raiders" renown). Could be George Thomas, above or someone else entirely.

Some research into Morgan showed that many of Morgan's troops were from Glasgow, KY, which was home to many Scots-Irish immigrants ... doesn't mean that was where this George T. was from, but interesting, nonetheless.

Lastly, i have sent inquiries to Mattie's granddaughter, to see if any of George Thomas (son of George Fleming) Keith's siblings names ring a bell as potential aunts/uncles of Mattie (whom Mattie may have mentioned to her granddaughter).

BTW: i found out that Mattie mentioned that her father ("my" George T. Keith) had an orchard (though where...?) and that he lived part of the year in Kentucky and part of the year in Indiana (though for which years, and how many...?)

Just throwing all of this out there, in case someone stumbles in and makes a connection. :D
