With most of James' children we know time of birth only from the early census records, which listed only age range for male and females in household. James' first child was a daughter, born ca 1825. After that he had two sons, both before 1830, and then a daughter. I have Mary as being born 1n 1839, because she is named in the listing of children in the 1850 census, Greene Co., IN:

James KEATH...44 M KY
Nancy.............41 F NC
George............14 M IN
Mary...............11 F IN
Malissa .......... 8 F IN
Benjamin F....... 5 M IN
Thomas J.......... 5 M IN
Elizabeth.........2 F IN
By that time, some of the earlier children, 7 of them, had either died or married and lived elsewhere.
