Carol, You are probably referring to Sarah KEITH (b. 1 Apr 1712) m. William THAYER of Easton. Involving the large KEITH family of early MA there were nine KEITH/THAYER marriages between 1695 and 1750. The Sarah mentioned was 5th child of Josiah KEITH (b. 25 Dec 1678, Bridgewater, MA, Plymouth Co., MA) m. 6 Jan 1703 to Mary, daughter of Samuel and Sarah (Downer) LATHROP; moved to Easton, MA; d. 1754. Josiah was 6th child of this notable fellow: The Reverend James KEITH (b. ca 1643, Scotland) was educated at Marischal College, Aberdeen, Scotland; arrived in Boston ca 1662; was introduced by the Rev. Dr. Increase Mather, and became Pastor of the first church in Bridgewater, Massachusetts (a position he held for fifty-six years); received a share of land bought from Massasoit by a body of original settlers of Plymouth Colony, led by Miles Standish and John Alden; m. 1st ca 3 May 1668 to Susanna, daughter of his deacon, Samuel and Susannah (Orcutt) EDSON; m. 2nd 1706 to Mrs. Mary (Macy) WILLIAMS, widow of Thomas WILLIAMS, and daughter of George and Susanna (Street) MACY (or MACEY); His influence probably saved the life of the wife, and also that of the son, of King Philip of the Indian Wars; d. 23 Jul 1719. [a James Keith was baptised in 1645, son of Alexander and Christina (Kempf) Keith of Aberdeen, Scotland. Time and place are right for this to be the subject James, but it is not proven.] ["NewEngRoots”, GenForum 4/99 claims that Rev James m. 1668 to Susannah ORCUTT, Salem, MA] If you have the downlines from William and Sarah (Keith) THAYER, I would appreciate hearing about their children and marriages.
