Keir Family Genealogy Forum

Hello Sharon: I have left my reference books on clans etc. in Florida and I won't get back there until mid April. At that time I will do some research for you. I have not been trying to find a clan but just trying to find my Keir family. I know where they leaved and where my grandfather was born and when. In our family the name has always been so far spelled Keir. I am in touch with a great great granddaughter of my grandmothers sister and when I hear from her again I will put some of these questions to her. She lives in London. My family so far are all found in Lanarkshire and the latter Keirs are in Shotts. There are still Keir families there and someone is also doing the leg work for me to see if they can find connections. Once we have a positive connection then we can find the derevations. In the LDS and some census I get the two spellings for two different siblings with the same parents. I am also in touch with Kerr families in Australia that left the Shotts area in 1880 and their given names match even if the surname is spelled differently. They too are looking at sent pictures to see if we can tie into families. There are also a large group of Keirs that live in Ayrshire. Keir Castle I beleive was in Ayrshire. It was really a Keep rather then a Castle but was destroyed. When you answer send directly to my email and give me what information that you have and I will add it to the ones working in Scotland for me. Kaye at cehaughee@aol.com
