You are correct. My grandfather told me that the spelling was changed by either alvilda or Abraham's wife [I can't remember]She changed the name on the mailbox with paint because they kept getting the wrong mail and it took so long to get it straight.So one day she got fed up, went to the mailbox and changed the spelling.Grandad said he did not know if that was really how it had happened but that is what he was told.
DO you know anything about Abraham's wife/family or his father John? Thanks Peggy
