My gggrandmother was Nancy Eleanor (Kegans) Tweedle. She was quoted in a newspaper article, when she was 99, saying she remembered her mother telling her stories about the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836. Her mother was a child then, and with the other women and children were within hearing distance of the battle. They were members of the Stephen F. Austin colony.
