Yvonne, I am descended from John Kees who was in Wilkes Co NC when he died c 1785. His son, called Captain John Kees, moved to the Tugaloo River valley c1785. In 1785/6. the area was GA, then it was ceded to NC.

John Kees is the earliest ancestor that I can identify in this family line. (I am still confused about whether my ancestor, Sarah Kees, who married Thomas Barton, was daughter of John or Captain John) Different things that I have read make me suspect that the Kees family came from Fauquier Co VA, same as my Barton family, but I haven't found anything to support my suspicion.

I don't recall seeing the name Isaac Kees with John in the Tugaloo area.

Terry
