Hi John
We are related via Richard Keep a convict (convicted & transported to Australia for "receiving stolen goods" via the ship "Admiral Gambier") & Elizabeth Hull.I certainly would like to share information with you however you may prefer to do it via direct email. Is your email address flowers@3a_connect.co.uk ? I have some MORE delicate info that maybe more appropriate this way.
Mine is [email protected]
I found some old notes relating to research done on Richard that was sent to me: these are just notes & I have heaps more to go through before I find the note justifying the line we have settled on.
It seems that Richard Keep brought the name of Keep to Wootton are. You are right about there Keeps not being recorded as living there before this 1788 marriage. He wasa farm labourer as as such moved around to where there was work offering. From my researcher's notes it says that
they did not have too much time to follow up many other districts & found but did find Keep families in the vilages of Northill & Cardington nearby. They did a hurried check in the parish records of Northill but could not find any baptismal record of a Richard other one in 1702. They said it may well have been Cardington. However a Humphrey Keep born 1724 married a woman Simkin in Northill. After he died she had a series of illegitimate children, as did her eldest daughter -could richard be one? do not despair. More to come!
Contact me soon so that we can correspond in detail. I am delving into the old notes so do not take the above as gospel yet & let us take the rest of the 'finds' off the open market of the internet.
Annette
