2nd Lt. Wills Keenum, Company C, 26th Alabama Infantry
I am looking for additional biographical info on the following man.Company C was recruited mainly out of Fayette County, Alabama.I obtained his service file from NARA and this is all it said:
Wills Keenum 2nd Lt.
Born about 1815 and enlisted December 7, 1861.Promoted to 2nd Lt. on September 24, 1862.Court martialed April 18, 1863 but released before Battle of Chancellorsville.Given special mention by Lt. Col. Garvin in his Official Report of Chancellorsville.According to Thomas G. Lindsey letter he was wounded at Chancellorsville. He left the field sick on July 2, 1863 at Gettysburg.Resigned October 31, 1863 at age 48 to get back to his wife and six girls (3).
I would like to find out when and where born? died? Was he ever wounded in any other battle? Is there a photo out there of him?Is he related to Milligan and Jamed D. Keenum of Company F, 26th Alabama Infantry which was also recruited out of Fayette County, Alabama.Any help would be appreciated.
