The first issue of the new newsletter "The Keeney Researcher an online genealogy newsletter" has just been posted. Here is the link to use http://k-f-g-online.info/TKR/defauft.htmlhttp://k-f-g-online.info/TKR/defauft.html when the next issue is posted I will use the same link but it will have #INDEX at the end which will take you right to the section of the page from which you can choose which issue you want to read. Each issue is being posted in 3 formats html which is the online version, a PDF version a portable document file and a
MS word document.
Each version has it's advantages and disadvantages the online version is basically one continuous page and if you print it the pages breaks are not the best in formatting which is why we decided tohave the word document and the PDF as the formatting for each page can be controlled and you do not get funny page breaks.
As for downloading the issues of the newsletter the smaller of the latter two files will always be the PDF over the word file.
The number of pages and the sizes of the files will be posted beside the links for these 2 files. Issue one is 11 pages in length and the PDF version is 1.59mb whereas the word document is 12.9mb.
But why 3 versions?
That's simple some people do not what to download files so we have the online version.
Some people do not like large files so we use the PDF. Extracting sections is possible but sometimes not so easy.
Some people want to be able to copy items easily from a newsletter so we have the word version.
Now copying of these is allowed and it would be nice to have it noted where the information was obtained but you can use your own judgement on that issue.
Feel free to share each issue with others researching the Keeney lines and don't forget to share items for the newsletter by sending them in to either Mary Winner or Dan Keeney you can get the email links for either of us from the link above or from each issue of the newsletter.
If you are on Facebook I also have an open group page there called The Keeney Researcher where you can share anything that pertains to the various Keeney lines what ever they maybe photos, links or?
