Sadly, many of those mysteries may never be solved in this life:the records simply don't exist.We can make reasonable guesses.
We've good reason to believe, for example, that Alexander Keeney was indeed that transported Scottish prisoner of war.I discuss the plausibility at some length in the little book on the ancestry of my maternal grandmother, born a Keeney, that I anticipate publishing next year.
I've never heard of a section of Hartford called "Scotland", but there is a settlement in southeastern Connecticut that bears the name.I don't think that any Keeney was associated with that area in the colonial period.
