Don - Hardy was my ggg-grandfather through his son, Sylvester who is listed in the next household on the 1850 Census. In ten years of searching, I have not come across any records showing associations between the Keeneys in Osage County and those in Texas County, MO.Several researchers have found links between the families back in Kentucky but there appears to have been little if any associations after that.At least in the public records.
What household was John Keziah listed in on the 1850 Census?
A little more info on the Hardy Keeney family. It appears that Hardy Keeney moved into what is now Osage Co., MO as early as 1819.Probably along with his wife's (Julia Ann Pattie) family.Sylvester Pattie accompanied Daniel Morgan Boone into central Missouri shortly after the War of 1812.
Sometime between 1830 and 1840, Hardy's father Michael Keeney, Sr. relocated into what is now Osage County, MO.Michael died there about 1838 and Hardy became the executor of his estate. The estate was divided into 13 equal shares which would indicate at least 13 heirs of Michael Keeney, Sr. were living as of his death in 1838.Most were living in what is now Osage & Maries Counties.
Hardy had two sons and three daughters. The daughters married three sons of Robert Goodman and remained in Osage/Maries Co., MO.The oldest, Oliver H.P. Keeny (name changed intentionally by this line) relocated to Vernon Co., MO shortly before the Civil War.The other son, Sylvester, was captured by Union forces in late 1861 and died shortly after being paroled from a St. Louis POW camp in Feb 1862.
Hardy Keeney had moved to Trading Post, Linn Co. KS about 1857.This is about the time that his first wife passed away. She may have died in a cholera epidemic that hit the area in 1854 but the exact date is unknown.Hardy remarried in 1860 to Lucinda Nelson Davis, a widow, in Trading Post, KS.They lived there until his death in 1891.
I haven't found any evidence of native american ties in this line of Keeneys. If there is it would have been prior to Peter Keeney in VA/KY.
Probably more than you wanted to know but if you have more questions, contact me.I'll try to help.
