Thanks for such a prompt response. My mother is Dortha Keele, dtr of Andrew Simon Keele, son of Charles Morgan Keele, son of Mathias Washington Keele, son of Richard S. Keele, son of Arthur Keele.

There are two Mathias W. Keeles that I can find. They are father and son. Mathias Washington Keele had four children with Sarah Keele before she died. The third child, Mathias William Keele was born in 1866.

I have recently found an 1890 Veterans Reoord showing Mathias Keele served in the Union Army for 5 months and 28 beginning in Aug 7, 1862 and ending on Feb 7, 1863. So, if this is Mathias Wahsington Keele, it causes me to rethink my theory as to why they were in Mexico when Charles Morgan Keele was born (Dec 8, 1860). Since Mathias William Keele was not born until 1866, that eliminates him.

By 1862, when Houston Keele was born, Mathias W. Keele and Sarah had returned to Missouri. So, my theory that they may have been setting out the war falls apart there.
