Hello-

While I was perusing the databases for information for my Keefe/O'Keefe line, I found an entry (not related to my line) that I wanted to post in the event anyone in AUSTRALIA is looking to find the roots of their KEEFE/O'KEEFE family.

The database was the "N.Y. Emigrant Savings Bank, 1850-1883", set up primarily for the banking needs of the Irish immigrants. When the accounts were set up, family information was recorded also in these records.

The record I found was for a JOHN O'KEEFE (and wife, Ann). John was a blacksmith, and his address in NY was listed as 27 (Mulheny??) St. He wrote that he was a native of ATHLONE, Ireland, and arrived in NYC (Oct. 14?) 1847, the Mortimer Livingston. His father was MICHAEL O'KEEFE, his mother was SARAH COFFEY. He says HE HAS ONE BROTHER IN AUSTRALIA, JAMES, 3 (siblings/sisters?) in Athlone Mary Ann, Kate and Rosann. His children are (Jno?), Michael J. and Annamarie. His wife, Ann, is a native of the same place (Athlone) - her maiden name Ann CU----IFF. Her father's name PAT. CU----IFF, mother's name MARY GALVIN, no brothers, 3 sisters - Bridget, Winafred and Cath.

I sure hope this information will help someone out there make a connection.

Regards, Kathy - Long Island, NY
