June 11, 1910: Tuesday, judge Babst Granted James O’Keeffe leave to file a petition –in-error in the common pleas court. O’Keeffe was fined $200 in the court of Mayor John G. Seiter for alleged violation of the Rose law, Tuesday afternoon, Judge Babst heard the case on its merits and reserved his decision. Owing to the inability of two attorneys to be present, the matter was continued. June 18, 1910:… May 25, 1912 Their A—…James O’Keeffe and P. B. rubins, delegates… …still Marion Daily Star but going back in time from 1900 … Jan 30, 1886: “Powder and a Lamp.” Sprinfield, Ill., Jan. 29—Charles KEEFER and Albert s. Eager, two coal miners, were fatally injured while going to their work in the mine at the West Coal shaft. One of them had a keg of blasting powder under his arm which ignited by a spark from his lamp, and an explosion followed. That they were not instantly killed is a marvel.
