Family of 1763 James Keech of Oneida County, NYS- removing one daughter

In our original 1763 James Keech family we included a Phoebe born about 1800-1805 time frame who was married to Henry Plato. I don't have a date of death for Phoebe but in 1880 she was living with a married daughter Mary Jane Mortimer at Niagara, New York.

I have no idea what evidence we had ten years ago to include her in this family as a KEECH- I looked back at some of my old emails but can't find a discussion on Plato families.

I believe now from recent documentation (read below) she was not a KEECH but a Keyes (also spelled Kees, Keese, original name was McKee out of Connecticut).

I have been communicating off and on for years with Gloria Reynolds (and so has Dan T.) about the KEES family from Oneida County, and with Pat Kimber who just recently was able to get a copy of the will of Stewart Kees born about 1778-1779, died Dec. 3, 1870 at Town of Western in Oneida County, NYS.

Stewart was twice married- first to Barsheba Taylor who died between 1850 and 1860, secondly to Magdalene (Lany) Fort who was still alive in July 1870.

In his will Stewart mentions a married daughter Phoebe M. Plato who was living at "Suspension Bridge". Here is Phoebe in 1860, the woman we thought was a KEECH:

Name: Henry Plato
Age in 1860: 65
Birth Year: abt 1795
Birthplace: New York

Household Members: Name Age

Henry Plato 65
Phebe Plato 55
Archibald Plato 22
George Plato 24
Harvey Plato 28
Mariah Plato 22 (wife of Harvey)

I cannot find Phoebe in year 1870 but at least one of her sons was at Niagara- James Harvey Plato, here is census info for him for that year and note name of the post office where he lived:

1870 United States Federal Census
Name: Harvey Plate
Birth Year: abt 1830

Apparently the estate of Stewart Kees was not settled until well into 1873 when family members were still fighting one another in court.

Here is one notice found in newspaper from January 1872:

If anyone needs clarification as to individuals named above or wants more info for this extended KEES family, please let me know. I have names of TEN children for Stewart Kees and his first wife Barsheba Taylor:

Living at time of settling of will:

Charles W. married to Mary Haynes, 10 children, I think all in Wisconsin

Phebe M. married to Henry Plato, living at Niagara, at least seven children

Harriet married to Peter McEachron, no further info on her family, living in Wisconsin

Nancy married to James Willard Freeman, 12 known children, town of Western, Oneida County, NYS

Diana married to Jeremiah Palmatier (she was first married to Isaac PROSSER), nine known Prosser children, one known Palmatier daughter, living at Ava, Oneida County, NYS

Stewart junior married first to Fanny Cronk, 13 known children, married after 1867 to Catherine Dunn, living at town of Western, Oneida County, NYS

and deceased at time of settling of will:

Charlotte W. married to a Haynes, has 2 children in Wisconsin

Marcus married to Ellen Roberts, has six children in Wisconsin

Laura, married to a Burch, has 2 children, one in Ohio, one in Illinois

Roxy Ann married to Solomon Haynes (also deceased), four children, one in Illinois, 3 in Canada

I am still working on these families- need names of children for Harriet if she had any; need first names of husbands for Charlotte and Laura and intrigued by Haynes children in Canada, want to fill in these blanks.

I have therefore removed PHOEBE KEECH from family of our 1763 James Keech, changed her last name to Keyes and have included her as a daughter to Stewart Keyes or KEES and his first wife Barsheba Taylor, of town of Western, Oneida County, New York.
