Hi Debra, Thank you very much for the picture. Do you happen to know when it was taken? Let me talk about Nancy brothers, Stephen and Noah. According to a family story, these brothers were confederate militia in the civil war. Apparently, Noah and Stephen were poor farmers and did not have money for shoes. It was winter time and Noah developed frost bite on his feet. Well, Noah was eventually captured by the the Union and his feet were treated by a medical coreman. They developed a friendship as the story goes and the coreman took Noah under his wing and ended up treating soldjers and was taken up north. As for Stephen, he became lost in a swamp, never to be heard of again. Now this is what I found. If you look at the census record I sent from Irwin, 1860. Noah would be 20 years old and Stephen would be 22 when the civil war started; perfect ages for the military. Indeed, I have found a civil war data base showing Noah to be a private in Company A of the 61 Georgia Infantry. Historically, this company is the Irwin Cowboys. I'm still looking for a record of Stephen. I look at the 1870 census showing Sion Key's family and those living around him and I don't see these two brothers listed any longer. This is evidence; however, one could argue that they simply moved away although the timing would be an unfortunate coincidence. If you look at the image of the census record I sent, you'll see that Nancy had more brothers. I descended from William R. So you see, I'm very interested in Sion's family. If your grandmother happens to know how to obtain pictures of any of Nancy sibling especially William R. I would be interested in hearing back about it. Notify Administrator about this message?
