Kim, if you're still looking for info re Henry Clay Keaton, I have some.Henry, the s. of John Lewis and Sarah Frances Alderson Keaton, was born 6/25/1869 and died 4/24/1947.He had a farm up Charley's Creek, near Culloden, and is buried in the Culloden Cemetary. He married Adaline Chaney around 1903.She was the d. of Wm. Thomas and Sarah Pennington Chaney. They were from a neighboring WV county, but not, I think, Cabell.Henry and Adaline actually had 12 children. Two, Henry and Ruby, died young, perhaps in infancy. The others were:Thelma b. 1904; Roy b. 1906; Winona b. 1907; Raymond b. 1909; Volora b. 1910; Flora Bob b. 1912; Richard b. 3/25/1914; Arno b. 1916; Mildred b. 1917; and Marie b. 1919 (Marie died in 1928).Adaline was born 2/28/1880 and died at Charley's Creek on 3/11/1972.She, too, is buried in the Culloden Cemetary.
I've seen pictures of both Henry Clay and Adaline. They were my great-grandparents.I am a grandson of Richard.Henry Clay died years before I was born, but apparently Adaline came to visit me when I was an infant.I have never heard anything about her being a mail-order bride; I'd love to hear what your source is.I guess I've heard a few anecdotes about Henry and Adaline and life on their farm.E-mail me if you want some more details;I also have lots of ancestor info re Henry.
