There were at least two Keating families that settled in Bristol in the 1850's. Both were from Graiguenamangh, Kilkenny. I have never been able to determine if they are related, but I assume they were at least cousins.

Michael Keating arrived in Bristol in 1849 or 1850 and was a ship builder. Michael lived out his life in Bristol and died there. He had several children. You can find him in the census upto 1900.

John Keating,my gg granfather,(wife Bridget)arrived in Bristol after 1852 and was a canal boatman. He moved up river to New Hope in 1861 after a new canal was dug on the NJ side of the river which made Bristol obsolete as a terminus for the canal boats. John and Bridget had 9 children and lived out their lives in New Hope. Bridget died in 1871 and John in 1890.

I have additional Info on both families, let me know what your looking for.
