Thanks for this posting. I have a copy of John Keating's death certificate but the obituary adds many details I did not know. John was born in County Tipperary, Ireland in 1842. He emigated to the U.S. in 1850 with his parents Patrick Keating (b. 1799) and Elizabeth Hogan (b. 1805, d. 8/18/70 in St, Charles, Kane, IL) and siblings Bridget (b. 1832, d. 1887 in Visalia, CA), Mary (b. 1839, d. 6/24/1916 in Lake Forest, IL) and two brothers, Thomas and Patrick, Jr., both of whom became Jesuit priests and moved to Australia. Bridget was my great, great grandmother who married William Murro McNamara (b. 1821, d. 1887 in Visalia, CA) in Elgin, Kane, IL in 1850.
