Hi Jodie Got a kick out of your message!!When I was a girl growing up in a small town in North Alabama, there were not any other Kearleys. I was sure the name was just "made up". My relatives insisted it be pronounced as "Careley'. This really confused everyone. When I was in my last year of high school @1951, I finally heard of another family with that name that lived in South Alabama. Very exciting at the time!! Then as I went about the world, I found a few others in major cities in the US. Finally, When I was in London @ 1973 I saw the name in the Newspaper. Now into genealogy, I find all the various spelling of past decendants, such as Kerley. My English friends tell me that in the true Devon accent it would be pronounced as "Careley". Sincerely, Anita Kearley Winchell.
