Just to assist in the confusion. My mother is decended from the line of KEARLEY from the Isle of Wight (for you lot in the states, it's a small island just off the coast of England, near to Southampton and Portsmouth). However in about 1826, they seemed to have changed their name to CURLEY! I don't think reading and writing were a big thing on the isle of Wight in the 1800s! My point is, there may be more of you than you think.
