Hi Josepha
Although I e-mailed you a couple weeks ago with this information, I thought it might be helpful to put it on the message board as someone may have additonal information to share with us.
I'm glad to find out that you are my second cousin. My grandfather was John kearley b. 1906 possibly in Bay Roberts, or St. John's. He grew up in St. John's (Southside Road),and remained there all his life. He married Louise Snow from Lewisport NL. I am not sure of the date. They had three children; June (Blackmore), Everett, and Donald Nelson. Nelson is my father. John Kearley passed away in August 1994, and my grandmother in 1989, both in St. John's.
I don't know much about Winnifred, however Josepha you were correct, she did indeed work with the U.S. Government as a secretary. My father remembers. He told me that Winnifred married a U.S. military Captain named Tom Hounsel. They had a daughter, she lives in the U.S. her name unknown.
With regard to early Kearley family history, it has been quite vague. We believe that our family originated in Christchurch England (Devon)and decendents came over to Newfoundland in the mid-1700's, possibly several brothers who went to Herring Neck, Belleroam,? I was told that Moses Kearley had two brothers, one went to British Columbia and the other to the "Boston states". The dates are unknown, and I know nothing more about this. Josepha does this sound familar? If anyone has more information, please contact us. Thanks, Andrea Laurie
