Edward T. Keane of Des Plaines for 55 years A Mass for Edward T. Keane, 89, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 794 Pearson, Des Plaines. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today, at the G.L. Hills Funeral Home, 745 Graceland Ave., Des Plaines. Born Aug. 30, 1917, in Chicago, he died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2006, at home. Edward was a dedicated family man and greatly involved in his community. Edward attended St. Phillip Academy and was baptized at Old St. Pat's. In his youth, he was also quite the athlete, he was a Golden Glove boxer and one of the members of the last DePaul University football team. Edward was a park district commissioner for 24 years of Des Plaines. He was also involved in planning the sesquicentennial celebration for Des Plaines, as well as chamber events for the city. Edward was a member of the Park Ridge VFW Post 3579. He retired from G.E. in 1984. He was the beloved husband for 60 years of Gloria C. (nee Frontier); loving father of Tim (Mary) Keane and Monica (Mike Rgkruciak) Keane; and cherished grandfather of Megan (Tom) Riddle, Molly Keane and Michael Keane.
