Dominic Keane & Catherine Wilson of Birkenhead 1910
Catherine Wilson b.1884 was my grandmother's 1st cousin. She married a Dominic Kean in 1910 and lived in Birkenhead.
Other than the marriage I have found no other reference to Dominic. He does not appear in the BMD or the 1901 census. I suspect he may have been born in Ireland. Family tradition says that he was a merchant seaman and was serving on the SS Montrose in 1910 when Dr Crippen and his lover Ethel Le Nerve tried to escape justice by sailing to Canada. Indeed my grandmother told me that it was in fact Dominic who first raised suspicion over these two passengers.
(See links below)
I have recently found a Dominick Keane on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website.
He was killed in action on the Somme 18 Aug. 1916. Does anyone know if this Dominick and my Dominic are one and the same person?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
