John, I suggest that you try searching in Castlemahon in County Limerick. It's a small village about 3 miles from Newcastle West. Clouncurivane (There is a North and a South)is the old name for it. This is where I found my Keanes - also a Maurice, son of Jeremiah Keane and Margaret Carmody. There were three brothers (perhaps cousins) that settled in this area (from Co. Kerry as the story goes) and when I visited there in 2000, I do remember hearing about an Australian connection. My cousin still lives on the original farm that they had in the mid 1850's and could possible help you out. If your interested, email me and I will give you his address there.
