Just reposting my KANE/O'KANE/KEAN/O'KEANE information

Sometime befor 1868 my G-g-grandfather PATRICK KANE/ect came to Lawrence Ma from Ireland and worked in the
Mills in Lawrence Ma. where he met and married MARY/MARIA STAKEM [+38 other spellings of the surname]
in Nov of 1868 . By 1869 they were in Fall River Ma where their daughter my G-grandmother MARY ANN was br.
There was a son br to them William Getrude in Harrison Co Ohio in 1872 I believe..then sons John and Frank and
daugher Margaret were br to them also. There were 2 other children br to them that died Joseph Henry and

By 1874 they were in Rochester, Pa., Beaver Co., Pa . Where Patrick opened a Tailor business. Maria died in 1880
and Patrick died in 1884. When Maria died in 1880 Patrick placed the children in the St Paul's Catholic Orphanage
in Pittsburgh Pa. Records show that children stayed there after her death at least the girls did.Mary Ann was
'delivered to a Mrs MccGorian of 44th Street City June 7 1883 and Margaret was delived to her AUNT Mrs MURPHY
of Rochester Pa Nov 14 1885 and returned to Orphanage May 21 1889. Records for the boys were lost.

I have found information on the following children Mary Ann, Margaret and William but JOHN and FRANK remain
lost information on them period. There was a family story that they went to Chicago but its never been proven.

In the last 5 years I have found out some information on PATRICK KANE and MARIA STAKEM...

Both were from Co. Kildare, Ireland .

Maria was br in Athy, Co. Kildare daughter of DENIS STAKEM and BRIDGET story says that Maria's
mother died when she was young...Denis Stakem died in June of 1880 in the Poor House in Athy Co
Kildare....Records from St Michaels RC Church in Athy show that Maria had siblings
James, Mary, Mathew, Anne and John and possibly sibling Katherine. No information on any of them. There was no
baptism information on Maria ...records are not complete in the registers..according to records her yr of birth would
have been 1849 as Church records show she was 31 when she died in 1880. However her age might have older than
that for all we know..

Patrick was br in Mylerstown, Co. Kildare, Ireland 1839.... son of MICHAEL KANE and BRIDGET DUGGAN..
Mylerstown is a rural area in Co Kildare...his father Michael was a tailor....

Church records show marriage of Michael and Bridget as

Michael Kean of Allen married Bridget Dungan of Allen Oct 11 1838 the witneses were PETER KEAN and JANE

He was baptized 28 of July 1839

Siblings were

Anne br 1841
Margaret br 1843

[One of the above married and lived in St Charles Mo in 1871 possibly had daughter that married a JOHN MURPHY
and lived in Kansas City Mo in the late 1930s.

Bridget br 1846
Catherine br 1849
[Both came to the US in 1870 and came to their older sisters place in St Charles Mo where later in the 1870's they
both entered the Convent of the Sacred Heart in St Joseph Missouri...Catherine died in 1929 I believe and Bridget
died in 1939 ...there is mention in her obit of nieces Mrs JOHN MURPHY of Kansas City Mo. MAYME BURKHEART of
Huntington WV and MARGARET WALSH of Sheffield England...]

Mary br 1852
John br 1854
{I know nothing idea if they emigrated or stayed in Ireland]

Elizabeth br 1856
[Married MICHAEL JOHN O'CONNOR br in Co Cork Ireland son of Michael O'CONNOR in Allen Parish Co Kildare
Ireland and had daughter MARY MAYME mention in St Bridgets obit in Ireland ..they emigrated to the US in 1884
and came to Rochester Pa to go into business with Elizabeths brother PATRICK in his tailor business in Rochester
Pa...however when they came to the US it was just days befor Patrick died unexpectly in Sept of 1884
Michael took over his tailor business till at least the late 1880s when they up and moved to Ashland Ky where they
lived till the early 1900s when they resettled in Huntington WV.]

Michale br 1859
[ ABout all I know of Michael is that he was Godfather to Patricks daughter Margaret in Rochester Pa in June of
1877 along with a CATHERINE SHUGHNESSY...So Michael also emigrated to the US .]

There is a family story that my G-grandmothers uncles served in the Civl War but like all family stories it has to be
taken with a grain of salt...not been able to prove it. I do have a tintype picture of a young man in some type of
uniform that until a few months ago I realize it might be a Civil War uniform but have not worked on it as of yet...

I have a few tintype pictures found in Mary Anns possessions that are of her father PATRICK KANE and herself and
possible picture is suppose to be of her brothers and Uncles but its not proven out.

I would dearly like to know what became of her brother's JOHN and FRANK and of other family members of her
parent's that came to the US ...

[Mary Ann married a JOHN HENRY JOYCE of Rochester Pa . Their one daughter Mary Dorothy [Dolly] was my
grandmother...she married Joseph Naylor of Butler Pa..]
