Dear Jo-Anne: Some of us researching the Kays family have been looking for the origin of the Kays family who migrated to KY as early as the 1770's.There are many John's in our line. William Kays, my ancestor, has a brother named John and a son named John.Wm. was b. 1782 in KY., He and most of his family migrated around 1830 to Benton Co., MO.He died there in 1854.There was a George Kays d. KY abt. 1820 (who many think may have been the father to William and his brother John. The name was variously spelled Case; keys; Kase; etc. to name a few. Some of the researchers think the family originated in PA, but have not been able to establish that.As you can see, we seem to have hit the proverbial "brick wall". Any insight you might have would be greatly appreciated.Phyllis
