My parents: Marshall Funk Grosscup born 29 Aug 1906 in Magnolia, Putnam, Illinois and died 13 Aug 2001 in Waterloo, Blackhawk, Iowa and is buried in the Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup, Buchanan, Iowa and on 13 Jun 1932 in Ottawa, LaSalle, Illinois married Dorothy Marie ___ . In August of 1978, our family took a genealogy visit instead of the usual family visit, to see our relatives in Magnolia, Putnam, Illinois and showed our children where their family lived not far away in Tonica, LaSalle, Illinois. We took photos of the tombstones of William Kays and Jane Beatty and of Henry B. Kays and Rachel E. Reed and others of the Kays family in the Magnolia Cemetery. Also, we took a photo of the tombstone of Marcus B. Kays, the son of Henry B. Kays and Rachel Reed, and Marcus's wife Catherine Funk Kays, who are buried in the Fairview Cemetery, Tonica, LaSalle, Illinois. Catherine Funk is the daughter of Joseph Funk and Margaret Wigfall. We have been back to Magnolia many times, even last summber 2003, and were visited a distant cousin who has photos of our Funk, Bobbitt, Kays, Roberts, etc., family, necxt to the home of one of my Kays cousins that lives across from the Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, Putnam, Illinois. It may be that William Kays born in 1781 may not have been born in Pennsylvania. That is why he is not being found. He needs to be traced backwards from where he was married in Madison County, Kentucky. The marriage bond was dated 18 Nov 1799 in Madison County, Kentucky. The bondsman was John Kays. A marriage bond can be signed by anyone and does not have to be a relative, but John Kays may fit as being a relative. Notify Administrator about this message?
