Ian: Great information! Thank you again. Yes, how obvious would it be that these KAYES 'of Lane' were living on Kaye Lane near Almondbury? I now see the marriage of Edmund KAYE and Nancy BEAUMONT. I have the Almondbury P.R.s CD for marriages (1677-1837) and baptisms (1703-1848). And the baptism of Nancy of Kaye Lane. Good idea to check out the most unique name. Joseph's daughter, Mary, my ancestor, married John FEARNLEY and I am corresponding with another FEARNLEY researcher and we are focussing on the use of odder names like Edmund and Lydia (KAYE) which do not seem to appear in the FEARNLEY line. Re: Joseph KAYE - From Almondbury Parish microfilm (230649) with my notes added, all Josephs sons of John (Johannes): 24 (?) 1718/19 (couldn't read exact year) - Joseph, son of John KAYE of Berry Brow ( 2 miles from Huddersfield) 25 Aug 1720 - Joseph, son of John KAYE of Thorpe (Upper or Fin- Thorpe, 2 miles from Huddersfield) 16 Apr 1722 - Joseph... of (something) Cross, Linthwaite (Broken Cross?) (Linthwaite is 3 miles SW of Huddersfield) 27 Jul 1723 - Joseph ... of Upperlongly (Upperlonly on CD) (Longley is 1 mile from Huddersfield, Upperthong is 6 miles S) (?) Sep 1725 - Joseph... of Roidhouse in Farnley Tyas (4 miles SE from Huddersfield) (note: Joseph KAYE 'of Farnley' was having children the same time as Joseph KAYE 'of Lane', as was Joseph KAYE 'of Overlongley'). You are right, Lane is not used as a location for any of the Josephs I found on the microfilm although some pages were very hard to read. I did a word search on the baptism CD for the word Lane (and got 867 results) and I see listings like Lane near Holme (1820), Lane Thong (Holmfirth Chapel, 1799), and Lane (Farnley, 1716). Confusing? No, not much! I shall have to read the list more closely. Oddly the search did not find any of my Joseph's children in Lane. Judy Notify Administrator about this message?
